D9 Hosting Dedicated IP Address
Most larger websites, or ecommerce enabled sites, have dedicated IP addresses. This means that your site is the only one on the internet using that unique IP number.
For example, if you typed 72.21.203.1 or rather http://72.21.203.1 into your web browser's address bar, you would be directed to the Amazon.com website. This is their dedicated IP address and belongs to no-one else. This is their unique address on the web that has been attached to the domain name amazon.com
If you have a business oriented website, then you probably will need a dedicated IP address for your site - especially if you have a merchant account and accept credit card payments on your site. Additionally, if you require an SSL certificate for your website, you cannot purchase one of these unless you have a dedicated IP address. You can get around this by using PayPal , however, many webmasters do not like the idea of sending the customer to a new address to make payment.
You can add a dedicated IP address to your D9 Hosting Plan for just £2.50/month. If you are an existing customer, you can request your dedicated IP address via our Help Desk . New customers can simply check the Dedicated IP box when placing your hosting order.
